BOUZAN AND VERGES SEAL SPANISH DOUBLE AT EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Spain has claimed supremacy at the 2021 European Championships with Walter Bouzan and Judit Verges winning the men’s and women’s titles.

It was a tough grind for paddlers, with light offshore winds meaning there was very little assistance over the course.

Bouzan sealed victory in a time of 1:23:34, around 30 seconds ahead of Germany’s ICF World Championships silver medalist Gordan Harbrecht (1:24:08), and fellow Spaniard Esteban Medina (1:24:57) in third.

Verges backed up her impressive bronze medal at the World Championships with a dominant performance. She crossed in a time of 1:33:59 ahead of compatriot Chloe Bunnett 1:36:44 and France’s Angie Le Roux (1:37:18).
